In the traditional theory of mass transfer, big surface area means high mass transfer efficiency. While sometimes excess surface area can impede gas/liquid contact and create higher pressure drops, it will lead to packing's channel blocking. Based on this new understanding, Jaeger invented tri-pack.
Plastic tri-pack is a hollow spherical column packing constructed of a unique network of ribs, struts, and drip rods. Because its free of corners and valleys, it minimizes wasteful liquid flow down the wall surface. Plastic tri-pack further prevents dry spots and compression interlock, two phenomena common to traditional packing media. Both conditions cause liquid and air channeling and decrease media efficiency. This product has the virtue of light weight, wide free space, small wind resistance, and good surface hydrophilic, big full wet surface area and convenient filling in the equipment and sound usage effect.
