High-temperature Calcined BFA (F-grit)

Inquire Now

Alfa Chemistry is the enterprise to adopt tunnel kiln technology for the calcination of brown fused alumina (BFA), enabling precise temperature control and consistent thermal treatment. This advancement enhances the performance characteristics of BFA abrasives, particularly for F-grit used in bonded abrasives.

Through high-temperature calcination, the BFA undergoes a structural transformation that results in a distinctive blue hue, signifying improved purity, toughness, and functional properties. These enhancements make high-temperature calcined BFA (F-grit) the premium choice for high-performance grinding applications.

Key Features

  • Enhanced Toughness: Greatly improved resistance to fracture and wear, extending abrasive life.
  • Superior Hydrophilicity: Better compatibility with various bonding agents, ensuring stronger, more durable abrasive tools.
  • Exceptional Cleanliness: Minimized impurities, leading to consistent performance and reduced tool defects.
  • Reduced Magnetic Material Content: Critical for applications where magnetic contamination is a concern, preventing issues like black spots in ceramic tools.
  • Increased Hardness: Optimized cutting ability and efficiency for demanding grinding and cutting operations.
  • Peak Performance: It represents the ultimate in brown fused alumina quality, exceeding the capabilities of conventionally calcined abrasives.

Available Grades and Applications

HG-AB012

  • Characteristics: This grade features a sharp, angular particle shape with low bulk density and strong self-sharpening capabilities. It boasts significant improvements in toughness, hydrophilicity, cleanliness, magnetic material content, and hardness compared to our HG-AB008 grade.
  • Applications: Ideal for manufacturing high-end bonded abrasives such as large-diameter resin cutting wheels. Tools made with HG-AB012 deliver high sharpness and excellent heat dissipation, enabling fast cutting and a high grinding ratio. They are perfectly suited for processing low carbon steel, alloy steel, and stainless steel, providing significantly enhanced durability while maintaining exceptional cutting performance.

HG-AB013

  • Characteristics: Distinguished by its cubic particle shape with regular and uniform grains, leading to a high bulk density. HG-AB013 offers marked improvements in toughness, hydrophilicity, cleanliness, magnetic material content, and hardness over our HG-AB009 grade. It specifically helps reduce reverse expansion and black spots in ceramic abrasives.
  • Applications: Primarily used for creating high-end bonded abrasives where significantly improved durability is paramount. HG-AB013 is widely employed in heavy-duty grinding wheels, and for processes like double-disc grinding and external cylindrical grinding, ensuring robust performance under demanding conditions.
